Profile
Abstract
Johannes Quaas is University professor for Theoretical Meteorology. He is the designated speaker of the "Breathing Nature" initiative that at Leipzig University and partner institutions aims to build a cluster of excellence on the connection between biodiversity and climate change. Johannes Quaas is an expert on clouds and climate change, particularly with regard to the role of anthropogenic particles (aerosols) for clouds and climate. His team uses climate models as well as satellite observations. He was a lead author for the 6th Assessment report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. Johannes Quaas leads work packages in several European projects, he is active in the German Meteorological Society and in the University Partnership for Atmospheric Sciences.
