My research is focused on measuring, mapping and monitoring of soil properties by means of proximal and remote sensing, mainly in the context of current soil health concepts. I am particularly interested in the optimization of on-site / in situ measurements with portable spectrometers (imaging and non-imaging), and also in in the advancement of machine learning algorithms for the quantification of key soil properties.
I am also interested in digital soil mapping to support soil monitoring programs on different scales by combining spectrometric point data with spatial covariates (multispectral satellite data, digital surface models, soil information systems).
